Sony has released the first teaser trailer for the Twisted Metal TV series, which is viewable below.
Peacock announced in February 2022 that it had picked up the PlayStation Productions show, and it’s now confirmed plans to stream it in the US beginning on July 27.
It stars Anthony Mackie (Captain America: New World Order), Will Arnett (Arrested Development), Samoa Joe (AEW), Thomas Haden Church (Spider-Man 3), Stephanie Beatriz (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) and Neve Campbell (Scream).
The show, which is written and executive produced by Michael Jonathan Smith (Cobra Kai), stars Mackie as John Doe, an amnesiac who “talks as fast as he drives”, according to Peacock.
Doe has to traverse a post-apocalyptic wasteland to deliver supplies to an outpost and will be aided by car thief Quiet (Beatriz), while being pursued by patrolman Agent Stone (Church).
The show is the second TV series from PlayStation Productions, following this year’s hit The Last of Us adaptation.
It arrives ahead of a planned Twisted Metal video game reboot, which VGC exclusively reported last year is in active development at Sony’s Firesprite studio, after moving from original developer Lucid Games, according to sources.
