The 29th episode of The Rising of the Shield Hero, "Ruins in the Fog," unfurled the possibility of the Spirit Tortoise's death through its familiar Ost Hourai. The episode allowed viewers to buy into the idea that the Spirit Tortoise's can only be defeated through the destruction of its heart.
However, Episode 30 confirmed that there is more to the Spirit Tortoise's possible death than its large heart. The development presented in the episode was shocking and unexpected. Based on the current events, Naofumi and his party would have to make a torturous decision that would impact the kingdom of Melromarc.

Since the first episodes of Season 2 of The Rising of the Shield Hero, the idea that the Spirit Tortoise has been under the control of an unknown person has been a recurrent theme. Finally, the story adds merit to the suspecting characters’ theories. Episode 30 opens with L’Arc, the Sycthe vassal hero, and his partners from the alternate world, revealing the origin of the individual behind the Spirit Tortoise's unprecedented revival and the havoc it caused. Naofumi's former combat opponent, Glass, alerted the hero and his party members that the mysterious individual came from their world.
