«Dick Tracy» is a frankly astounding feat of production design and cinematography — it is one of the most beautiful looking films I've ever seen. The cast is half magnificent (the villains — Pacino in particular — are having a blast) and half lousy (a charisma free Beatty as the titular hero, Madonna as the femme fatale) but the script is incredibly basic — I suspect that it started production as a full blown Sondheim musical and was converted into a more traditional action/adventure movie in the wake of the success of Burton's «Batman» the previous year. A fascinating film — I'd love to see a 4K HDR re-release but that seems unlikely.
anything good on Hulu this month for movies like horror movies? Been a couple of months since i last watched Prey on Hulu like 2 or 3 months ago
@LN78 Dick Tracy is a fairly bad movie but you’re dead on about the immaculate production, I’d kill for a 4K Blu-Ray. I went to see Barbie and the practical effects and set work totally reminded me of that era of filmmaking, it takes a high concept design and makes it believable using perspective and lighting.
got alot of stuff to watch on Disneyplus
Hocus Pocus 2 the Mr Boogedy movies Star Wars Clone Wars movie Cheetah movie Toy Story 4 the two Ewoks movies
Did the «Hot Fuzz» double bill — «Bad Boys 2» and «Point Break». The latter blows the former clear out of the water.
Watched Pulp Fiction late last night because I couldn't sleep. Really good cast in a great movie. Uma Thurman was — and still is — something else.
«The Shadow» with Arec Bordwin. Another fantastic looking but vapid (and pretty racist) early 90's attempt to jump on the «Batman» bandwagon. «The Phantom» with Billy Zane later. Yay.
