The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom comes with features and mechanics inspired by role-playing games that allow you to increase Link's battle prowess with weapons and armor sets, grant him beneficial effects by eating dishes, and more. Link's health and stamina can also be increased during the course of the adventure, and like for every enhancement in the game, and in the series as a whole, you will need to collect specific items.
Taking a page from the Breath of the Wild book, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom lets you increase Link's health and stamina by spending four Spirit Orbs at any Goddess Statue in the game. These special items can only be found by completing Shrines of Light scattered all over Hyrule's surface and sky islands.
Locating them is fairly easy, as they can be spotted from a distance by their characteristic glow. Those hidden from view are far harder to discover, but you can get a Shrine Sensor upgrade for the Purah Pad by completing the Hateno Village Research Lab Quest in Hateno Village, which will help you find all Shrines of Light you may have missed on your travels.
In case you don't know where the nearest Goddess Statue is, you can warp to the Great Sky Island to pray at the one where you got your first upgrade at the start of the game. There's also a statue inside the shelter in Lookout Landing
Whether to increase health or stamina first in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom entirely depends on your playstyle, your actual combat skills, and your knowledge of the game's mechanics.
