Shadowrun Returns and BattleTech developers Harebrained Schemes revealed their latest tactical strategy adventure during today's Paradox Announcement Show, and this one's got some good old-fashioned Indiana-Jones-style pulpy flavor. The Lamplighters League and the Tower at the End of the World (which we’ll simply be referring to as The Lamplighters League from here on for obvious reasons) is set in an alternate 1930s about to be taken over by a dark Nazi-like cult known as the Banished Court. Ultimately, it’s up to a rag-tag bunch of ne’er do wells, “the best of the worst” as Harebrained Schemes describes them, to stop the bad guys’ plot for world domination.
In terms of gameplay, The Lamplighters League combines more traditional turn-based tactical combat with a real-time stealth infiltration stage that lets you set up your eventual showdowns how you want. Harebrained is also promising a lot of unique interplay between the game’s cast of colorful characters. You can check out the first gameplay trailer for The Lamplighters League, below.
