Villains in Star Wars usually fit one type of mold — sinister evil doers with meticulous plans for a grand scheme. However, a more recent introduction to the Star Wars universe does not fit into that mold, and instead opts for ruthless and impulsive violence. The Knights of Ren are a different type of villain in the formula, one that Star Wars is in need of, and a weird and gross moment in the ongoing Crimson Reign series shows exactly why.
The Knights of Ren are an enclave of Force-sensitive, masked marauders who traverse the universe causing destruction wherever they go. Although they are not Sith, the Knights of Ren adhere to the dark side of the Force. As a matter of fact, they directly defy the Sith and were aligned with Lady Qi'ra's drive to overthrow Darth Sidious, but rather than that being an endgame for them, it was just an obstacle in their warpath.

In Star Wars: Crimson Reign #4 by Charles Soule, Steven Cummings, Victor Olazaba, and Gure-eFX, the Knights are in Darth Vader's castle and spit into his bacta healing tank. Not only is this a weird and gross moment, but it's one of the rare times that Star Wars takes a dig at Vader's dignity. This is strange, because the franchise usually holds the Sith Lord in the highest regard, lest they undermine the threat and symbolism he poses. Yet this is exactly what makes the Knights of Ren unique as they could care less about Vader's image. Like it was mentioned above, Vader and the rest of the Sith are just in the way of the Knight's desire to pillage and do what they want.
