Disney Branded Television and BBC have finally announced the Season 2 release date for the upcoming next installment to the long-running sci-fi adventure series. The newest season will once again be led by Sex Education and Barbie star Ncuti Gatwa as the Fifteenth Doctor.
“The Doctor meets Belinda Chandra and begins an epic quest to get her back to Earth,” reads the official synopsis. “But a mysterious force is stopping their return and the time-traveling TARDIS team must face great dangers, bigger enemies and wider terrors than ever before.”
Doctor Who Season 2 is scheduled to premiere on Saturday, April 12 at 12:00 a.m. PDT/ 3:00 a.m. EDT) on Disney+, and on the BBC and BBC iPlayer in the UK. New episodes from the eight-part season will then debut weekly. The latest installment will also be led by Varada Sethu as Belinda Chandra and Millie Gibson as Ruby Sunday.
The series currently hails from showrunner Russell T. Davies, who is executive producing alongside Phil Collinson, Joel Collins, Julie Gardner, and Jane Tranter. Season 2 will also introduce guest stars Rose Ayling-Ellis, Christopher Chung, Anita Dobson, Michelle Greenidge, Jonah Hauer-King, Ruth Madeley, Jemma Redgrave and Susan Twist. In addition, it has also been confirmed that Emmy winner Alan Cumming has been tapped to play the guest-starring role of Mr. Ring-a-Ding, who is set to appear in the second episode.
