2025 Oscars Will Finally Bring Back Fan-Favorite Feature
The 97th Academy Awards draws nearer, as the annual affair returns next week. Viewers will see Conan O’Brien host for the first time. Audiences will also see who the lucky winners of the golden statuettes will be. Something else that audiences at home will look forward to with the 2025 Oscars is seeing a fan-favorite feature make its return.
What we know so far about the 2025 Oscars is that the ceremony will showcase “the beauty and resilience” of Los Angeles. In addressing the ongoing wildfire crisis, according to Variety, fire responders and firefighters will be honored. There will also be a call to action for people who want to help.
Executive producer Raj Kapoor and showrunner Katy Mullan plan on bringing “connection” to the ceremony through the blending of creative people putting together projects. This involves connecting presenters who have ties to the nominees. So, expect some surprise cameos, pairings, and reunions in store.
One big difference audiences will notice at the 2025 Oscars is the omission of the traditional musical performances of the Best Song nominees. Instead, we’ll still see musical performances of Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Queen Latifah, and more. There will also be a Quincy Jones tribute with the late record producer being among 2025’s honorary Oscar awardees.
Back in 2021, a noticeable feature of the 93rd Academy Awards was that clips of the nominees’ movies weren’t shown. It was instead the presenters speaking about each nominee’s history in the industry as well as their passion or outlook. Fans were quick to express frustration through social media towards the ceremony’s missing familiar element.
Fortunately, the 97th Oscars will be bringing back the fan-favorite feature of showing film clips of each nominee’s work. This feature will give audiences a glimpse of each stand-out moment that made each nominee recognized by The Academy.
