IO Interactive has announced that PC users will be able to play all three games in its Hitman reboot trilogy in virtual reality beginning next week.
As with the PlayStation VR version of Hitman 3, owners of Hitman 1 and 2 will be able to import levels from those titles into the latest release in order to play the trilogy in VR.
The older games will also benefit from Hitman 3’s improvements to rendering, animation and AI, according to IO.
Although it has yet to confirm exactly which VR devices the game will support, IO is only saying for now that it’s “supporting the most popular hardware”, with full details coming before it launches on January 20.
VR footage was also shown during the Hitman 3 Year 2 reveal presentation, which can be watched below:
“We are super, super happy that we can finally release the whole Hitman Trilogy game and release it to the PC VR community,” senior game designer Eskil Mohl said during the presentation.
Mohl explained that throwing was one of the main things the team wanted to get right, given how important it is in the main Hitman games. To do it, players aim with their left hand then throw with their right hand.
“It sort of just worked out of the box”, he said. “Then we found out it had extra stuff, that suddenly you could fling from an underhand throw, or a side throw, so you could be ninja-like, if you wanted to do [that], or almost like a juggler.”
IO Interactive also announced that a special Hitman Trilogy bundle will be released next week.
Hitman Trilogy will be released digitally on January 20, and will be available on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, Xbox One, PS4, the Epic Games Store and Steam.
