Paramount+ revealed the first trailer for its original limited event series The Offer, which is the dramatic telling of the trials and tribulations for the making of The Godfather. The teaser trailer was revealed by executive producer and showrunner Nikki Toscano during Paramount+'s virtual Television Critics Association presentation.
The limited series will premiere on April 28, exclusively on Paramount+ with the first three episodes available to stream at launch. Following the premiere, the remaining seven episodes will be available to stream weekly on Thursdays.
Based on producer Albert S. Ruddy's experiences of bringing Mario Puzzo's The Godfather to life, the series stars Miles Teller as Ruddy, Matthew Goode as legendary producer Robert Evans, Juno Temple as Bettye McCartt, Giovanni Ribisi as Joe Colombo, Dan Fogler as director Francis Ford Coppola, Burn Gorman as Charles Bluhdorn, Colin Hanks as Barry Lapidus, and Patrick Gallo as Mario Puzo.
In addition to writers Michael Tolkin (Amazon Prime Video's Hunters) and Toscano, Ruddy himself along with Teller, Russell Rothberg, and Leslie Greif, who also developed the series, serve as executive producers, with Dexter Fletcher (Rocketman), who directed the first available episodes.
The Offer is one of the few behind-the-scenes retellings of the making of one of the world's greatest movies ever made. There was also the announced biopic from Barry Levison announced back in 2020, Francis and The Godfather, and the 2021 best-seller Leave the Gun, Take the Cannoli by Mark Seal, who interviewed cast members and some of the real-life crew featured in The Offer back in 2009.
