If you were watching today’s PlayStation Showcase, there’s a chance that you may have let out an audible gasp upon seeing what looked like the face of a familiar black cat in a distinctive art style. Is Mae making her grand return in a new Night of the Woods game? Well, no, but you’d be forgiven for thinking so, as what we have here is actual Revenant Hill, the debut title from The Glory Society, a worker-owned co-op formed by two of Night in the Woods’ co-creators. You can check out the clip of the game that premiered at the showcase below, and it looks like it still aims to have the unique charms of its predecessor.
Set in 1919, the cat featured here is actually a male cat named Twigs, and after his barn burns down, he’s forced to move into a wet log by the graveyard. But then the owl near the area starts asking for rent, and so Twigs has to find ways to make ends meet via the nearby town, and help the community grow, and deal with a dark presence, and work with witches, demons, and skeletons, and…well, it’s pretty clear that things are going to get quite surreal here. Billed as a narrative adventure with farming elements, Revenant Hill doesn’t have a release date yet, and only PS5 and PS4 have been announced as platforms yet, but stay tuned for more details as they come.
