Over the past couple of months, there have been several rumors pointing out that Samsung will be hosting the Galaxy Unpacked earlier this year due to stiff competition from not just Google's foldable but also Apple's iPhone 15, which will be launching in September. Now, we have some more information on when the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5 unveiling date in the form of an actual release date.
Samsung normally hosts the Galaxy Unpacked for foldable phones in August, this has proven to be a great strategy because it manages to beat Apple by a month, but considering how Google has also launched the Pixel Fold and priced it just as much as Samsung's foldable, it makes sense that the company wants to enter the market at the right time. According to the report, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5 will be unveiled on July 26, 2023. This is almost two weeks earlier than what Samsung usually reserves for the unveiling.
I am glad that Samsung has decided to come up with this release date. Not only will we get more competition in the market, but many people who did not upgrade to the Galaxy S series will finally have the chance to go for new foldable phones. The Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5 do look the same as their predecessor, but both phones are said to make a number of design changes under the hood that will make the overall build quality a lot better.
Other specs include a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy under the hood, an improved hinge mechanism on both phones and hopefully, better camera systems than the predecessor.
