One of the biggest complaints right now in The Finals is controller aim assist and zoom speed. Embark Studios has heard us and focused in on fixing zoom issues in The Finals Patch 1.4.1.
With controversy about aim assist rising in The Finals communities, it’s great to see Embark Studios react so quickly. With Patch 1.4.1 now live, we should see less overpowered aim assist securing kills. It’s a shorter patch, but here is the entirety of Patch Notes 1.4.1:

As you can see in Patch Notes 1.4.1, aim assist and zoom snapping are the two primary focuses. In the past, zoom snapping allowed players to turn extremely quickly and by aiming directly at a target which was too strong. Aim assist was also too powerful; with forgiving aim assist and zoom snapping, players were less reliant on skill and more reliant on the broken game mechanics.
Now, zoom snapping won’t allow you to turn 90 degrees to quickly get a kill and the SR-84, Revolver, LH1, and all Shotguns now don’t have zoom snapping at all. The only slight buff is the time it takes to look down the sights of any weapon has been reduced by .05 seconds.
A big nerf to controller players is camera magnetism getting reduced from 50% to 35%. This means if you play The Finals on controller, your shots will be less accurate because there will be less aim assistance from the game. Also, keyboard and mouse players can’t map an aim assist button, and they naturally have less aim assist than controller players, which is common in FPSs.
A slight buff is that there won’t be aim assist on invisible players, which slightly buffs invisibility players. While this is a fair change, I’m not convinced invisibility needed a buff. Check out our guide
