The most comical scene from The Dark Knight is getting new life in the form of a young adult graphic novel that features a motley crew of kids taking on the Batman identity.
Fans may recall the scene in Christopher Nolan's 2008 film in which Batman is forced to deal with a number of vigilantes who have been inspired by his actions cleaning up Gotham. Unlike the Caped Crusader, the would-be heroes are woefully unprepared to take on gangs or the villainous Scarecrow and one nearly winds up botching Batman's work stopping a drug deal. The genuine Batman informs one false Dark Knight that, unlike him, he's "not wearing hockey pads." The moment serves as a humorous reminder that not everyone is cut out for the line of work Batman participates in and that Bruce Wayne isn't exactly eager to see others following in his footsteps.

Unfortunately for Batman, it looks like a couple of kids never got the message and are about to do exactly that. On their blog, DC announced Fann Club: The Batman Squad, a new graphic novel from illustrator and writer Jim Benton. The middle-grade book follows a boy who idolizes Batman so much, he creates his own little Bat-Family with his best friend, sister, and dog. While the misadventures of the Batman Squad may seem innocuous, they're gonna get their first taste of real trouble when they "visit a bank that happens to be in the middle of a robbery. And not just any robbery, but one that’s being committed by a werewolf!" What's in store for the Batman Squad remains to be seen, but DC promises "a great send-up of the Batman mythos as well as a series of silly adventures fill of great, tongue-in-cheek satire for readers of
