The Boys star Laz Alonso, aka Mother's Milk, discusses how fractured his relationship with Karl Urban's Butcher is after the events of season 3. The most recent season of Prime Video's superhero satire has been one dominated by daddy issues, as both Butcher and MM have struggled with the threat of losing their children to other father figures. In MM's case, he was able to salvage his relationship to his daughter, while Butcher lost control of his step-son Ryan to Homelander.
The rift between the two men has always existed on The Boys; MM has a strong moral compass and thinks rationally, while Butcher is driven by rage and is willing to do whatever it takes, no matter the cost. Typically, they've been able to temper one another and work together in their common goal to take down the supes. In The Boys season 3, Butcher took it a step too far by teaming up with Soldier Boy, the supe who killed MM's grandfather as collateral in a botched robbery. Soldier Boy was also the reason MM's father worked himself to death, trying to legally take the patriotic supe down. Butcher knew MM's history with Soldier Boy, but ignored it in his own selfish pursuit to get closer to killing Homelander.
