Poland's CI Games has snapped up Tom O'Connor as its new senior vice president of development.
He joins from Tencent Games, where he was senior director of production, specifically for the Chinese giant's second party releases. O'Connor joined the games industry back in 1996 when he was hired by Psygnosis as a senior software tester, before joining EA also in software testing. From there he has held production roles at Activision, Acclaim and PlayStation – where he spent 15-and-a-half-years – before joining Tencent in 2022.
“I want to thank Marek and the rest of the team for the warm welcome to CI Games," O'Connor said.
"I recognise the current strengths of the company - and the strides it’s already made to meeting its strategic objectives - and have a clear vision on how I can spearhead its production frameworks in order to take CI Games to the next level.”
CI Games CEO Marek Tyminski added: “On behalf of the executive leadership team – and the company as a whole – I want to welcome Tom to CI Games. He joins at a crucial time as we continue to improve the efficiency and quality of our titles - building on the business optimisations we’ve made over the last six months - and help execute the company strategy through the growth of our owned IPs going forward.”
CI Games recently laid off 10 per cent of its staff, before another "final" round of layoffs saw about 30 employees lose their roles.
