An impressive collection of Tekken 8 mods gives characters like Kazuya Mishima, Jin Kazama, and Paul Phoenix their classic looks from the original PlayStation era — blocky polygon textures and all. Tekken 8 sees the return of many longtime Tekken fighters, all of whom sport updated designs and improved graphics thanks to Unreal Engine 5. Paul in particular has a noticeably different look from his last appearance in Tekken 7, with Tekken 8 swapping out his trademark high-top fade haircut for a more relaxed style that has garnered a mixed response from fans.
Jin and Kazuya look more or less the same in Tekken 8 as they have throughout the series, though the latter has gained an advanced True Devil transformation that makes him an even bigger threat to the world. Overall, Tekken 8 is considered by many to be the best-looking entry in the long-running franchise, but there are quite a few old-school fans who miss the blocky textures and polygon models of the classic PS1 games — and some of them have worked to recreate the look of the first few installments through various character mods.
One such modder is simply known as Chris, and they have been sharing some of their retro-inspired Tekken 8 mods on a designated website called Tekkenmods. Among the various old-school reskins Chris has posted are polygon versions of the feuding father/son duo of Kazuay Mishima and Jin Kazama, who now sport their classic looks from the original Tekken and Tekken 3 respectively. Another Tekkenmods post sees Paul transformed back into his older self from Tekken 2, complete with his black biker attire and Guile-like flat-top hairstyle. These mods replace certain costume choices in Tekken 8’s customization suite, with all three utilizing the Iron Skull Mask for the head.
