Bandai Namco’s Tekken 8 is still a ways off, with the publisher looking to release the fighting game sequel before April 2024. Series producer Katsuhiro Harada has since confirmed crossplay and rollback netcode while also indicating a beta at some point. In the meantime, it seems the character select screen has been revealed.
Posted on Reddit by Jermz67one, the image is from PlayX4 2023, which recently took place in Seoul, South Korea. Hwoarang’s reveal trailer was showcased on stage, but this character select screen appears to be from an earlier build. Recently revealed characters like Asuka Kazama, Leroy Smith and Lili aren’t included.
If this is close to the final character select screen, then there’s plenty of space for more characters, not including those in the base game. It’s hardly news, especially with how many characters were released as post-launch DLC for Tekken 7. Bandai Namco hasn’t said anything about post-launch plans, so perhaps we’ll learn more once the release date is decided.
Tekken 8 is coming to PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. Stay tuned for more updates in the meantime.
