Those of you who've played The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will know that's it's jam-packed with references to past Zelda games, usually in the form of unique clothing or other little cosmetics that you can obtain through Amiibo. You won't be surprised to hear that Tears of the Kingdom is exactly the same, though you may spot one new reference a lot quicker than some others. There's a truly bizarre nod to Link's Awakening tucked away in several caves across Hyrule, and this is your only warning that there are spoilers ahead.
First shared by IGN, you'll meet a fashionista called Misko at some point in your journey, who gives you a quest which will lead you to three different caves. Each of these contains one piece of an outfit that is a reference to Link's Awakening, which includes a shirt, some bottoms, and a headpiece. It's the latter item that will have you turning heads though, as putting on the mask you find will give you a comically large version of Link's head from Link's Awakening.

"Legend says this mask resembles a hero who explored a mysterious island that one could visit but not leave," reads the mask's description. "The item makes one want to wear it but also not wear it". It's giving off a bit of a sinister vibe considering it's a big, goofy helmet of a chibi version of Link, but soaring through the skies of Hyrule like that is surely worth Link suffering just a little bit of mental distress.
