Two-time The Challenge: All-Stars competitor Syrus Yarbrough took aim at the younger generation of competitors, saying that he wants to compete in season 38 of the original series. Syrus got his start on The Real World: Boston as a University of Hawaii grad under a basketball scholarship while majoring in communications. The Santa Monica native party boy was known for being kind, accepting and open-hearted during his time on Boston, instantly embracing LGBTQ+ cast member Genesis Moss, who feared being an outcast during a more conservative time, given the political landscape of 1997. His career as a party promoter after the show propelled the most lucrative franchise alumni's post-show club appearances into a fever pitch in the early-aughts.
Syrus' athleticism and social skills made him a ripe contender for The Challenge when he first debuted in the fourth season of the show, Extreme Challenge. That's where he helped the The Real World team pull out their first victory against Road Rules in the main franchise's short history of head-to-head competition against the sibling shows. His following season, Battle of the Sexes, gave him his first brush with elimination when he was sent home mid-season after the format of The Challenge changed to a more cutthroat nature by voting people out. The basketball player's performance improved for The Gauntlet 2, making it to the final, but his stats would falter the following two seasons. The final appearance before All-Stars was in the infamous season The Ruins.
