Daedalic Entertainment and developer Spitfire Interactive released the XCOM-like superhero tactics game, Capes, this week.
The game is set in a dystopian world 20 years after the supervillains actually won and those found to have developed superpowers are punished for their “crime”.
In the game, players will assemble teams from eight playable heroes, each with their own differing powers, strengths, and motivations. Typical to the genre, heroes will gain experience, level up, and unlock new abilities as players work their way through the campaign, side quests, and even quests specific to individual heroes.
Combat in capes places less emphasis on accuracy and more on line of sight and achieving optimal positioning. Players can execute combo attacks with other heroes, special team up abilities, and awe inspiring ultimate attacks.
The development studio Spitfire Interactive was formed from Hand of Fate developer Defiant Development. Players may recognize the game’s writer Morgan Jaffit from another beloved superhero tactics game, Freedom Force, a beloved superhero tactics game from Ken Levine’s Irrational Games.
Capes is available to purchase now on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch Platforms. A King City Edition of the game is also available offers players a number of cosmetics, digital art book, and wallpapers.
