When it comes to Nintendo’s grand-scale crossover fighting game, yes, it’s a fighting game; there are two true “communities” that take it to the next level. The first is the eSports community, who train themselves to the limit and beyond to go to competitions and prove that they’re the best of the best. The other “true community” are the modders. These gamers go the extra mile to expand the game beyond its normal constraints and add a little extra fun. For example, in Super Smash Bros Ultimate, a gamer decided to give Link some of his more recent upgrades.
Specifically, we’re talking about how Link has new abilities in the mega-hit title The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. These abilities were a key focal point for not just the game’s plot but for traversing the world and enduring combat against various enemies.
Due to the complexity of the abilities, you might not think having them in Super Smash Bros Ultimate would work. But as you’ll see in the tweet below, a modder got it to work in ways that would flow with the fighting game. Well, more or less.
The easiest one that’s instated is “Ascend,” which easily lets Link move through platforms and even rise up through the stage if he’s below it before dying. That’s something many of you will find useful. The other ability that they got to work, in a general sense, is “Fuse.” In Link’s title, you could use it to make just about anything with your weapons or shields and even make cool vehicles. Here, you’ll basically pause the game and have a choice to enhance your sword or arrow using items from within the fighting title.
