Activision has clearly been working overtime on getting their next few Call of Duty cameos lined up.
They have announced a few rappers to become playable on Call of Duty Modern Warfare II, as part of their event commemorating 50 years of hip-hop.
As reported by Video Games Chronicle, they shared this press release:
“As part of Call of Duty celebrating 50 years of Hip Hop, everyone will receive free hip hop War Tracks for logging in between August 7 and August 16.
Simply go online in Modern Warfare II and Call of Duty: Warzone on four separate days within that time period – an easy task for those that play daily or even only on weekends – to receive a free gift.”
The War Tracks will run the gamut of songs from the 1980s to the 2000s, but they haven’t announced anything yet. Anything from the Fat Boys or Chamillionaire is fair game, so watch for it.
As for playable rappers, Snoop Dogg will be there at the start of the season, with Nicki Minaj and 21 Savage coming sometime later.
This special hip-hop event also happens to be coming alongside Season 5 for Call of Duty Modern Warfare II, which will also see the return of several classic maps and modes from 2007’s Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.
But, that isn’t all the news for Season 5, as Sony revealed in their recent PlayStation Blog:
“Play as the legendary treasure hunter and video game icon Lara Croft in a new Operator bundle arriving in the mid-season.”
As best as we can tell, these will make Nicki and Lara the first female operator skins that have ever been added to the Call of Duty franchise. And that’s one fictional character and one real life celebrity, to boot.
To be clear, Activision has used some famous actresses’ likenesses in some Call of Duty Zombies’ DLC
