The Super Mario Bros. Movie continues to make money at the box office, and now it's passed a popular Disney movie to climb even higher up the charts for animated movies.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie has earned $1.288 billion globally, which means it has now climbed past 2013's Frozen ($1.284 billion) to rank No. 3 all time on the animated charts, according to Variety. The movie now trails only Frozen II ($1.45 billion) and The Lion King's remake ($1.66 billion) on the charts for highest-grossing animated movies of all time.
The highest-grossing animated movies of all time can be seen below. As you will notice, Disney and Universal are responsible for every movie inside the top 10.
Looking beyond just animated movies, The Super Mario Bros. Movie now sits at No. 20 all-time, ahead of films like The Dark Knight Rises, Spider-Man: Far From Home, Aquaman, The Fate of the Furious, and more.
Given the massive commercial success of The Super Mario Bros. Movie, many are wondering if a sequel will be made, and it sure looks like that's going to happen.
