Street Fighter Duel has certainly taken the world by storm since its global release. It’s officially been available for around 48 hours as of right now, and it already has a total of 90 servers.
From the looks of it, there’s a new server opening at least every half an hour. It’s not uncommon for gacha games to have a selection of servers to join, but it’s less common to have almost 100 servers in its first week.
There’s a possibility that the additional Street Fighter Duel servers will begin to slow down as time goes on, but it’s definitely catching the attention of the gacha community at the moment. Some are saying it’s due to a cash-grab opportunity, but there isn’t enough evidence to prove that to be true at this moment in time.
It’s important to remember that with gacha games, it’s up to you whether you want to spend money or not, but some people aren’t even happy with the notion of micro-transactions. More servers, means more popularity, and if you’re enjoying the game then surely that’s a good thing right?
A lot of people don’t see it that way, as they view it as an audience heavily funding a pay-to-win game – but there isn’t any indication that Street Fighter Duel is pay-to-win at the moment.
At the end of the day, as long as you can clear content, that should be enough. But for some, they want to be at the top of the leaderboards dealing the highest amount of damage.
The gacha debate has been a hot topic for quite some time, and it seems like there will always be polar opposite opinions on the game genre. However, it’s hard to ignore the abundance of gacha games in the mobile market right now, especially with world-famous titles like Genshin Impact.
