The development team has announced that the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Hogwarts Legacy have been delayed once more.
The official Hogwarts Legacy Twitter account announced the news some hours ago. According to the team, the last-gen versions of the popular title have been delayed by a month for additional polishing. Interestingly, there's no mention of the Switch version of the title, which is still slated for a release on July 25. The PS4 and Xbox One versions of Hogwarts will now launch globally on May 5.
"We’re overwhelmed with gratitude for the response to Hogwarts Legacy from fans around the globe", the tweet reads. "The team is working hard to deliver the best possible experience on all platforms and we need more time to do this. Hogwarts Legacy will launch for PS4 and Xbox One May 5, 2023."
Of course, although the Switch version hasn't been delayed just yet, it's still possible that this version will see a delay later on as well.
Warner Bros. magical adventure was first slated for a release on the current-gen AND last-gen consoles simultaneously. Back in December of last year, however, developer Avalanche Software already announced a delay for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions. The developer tweeted the following:
“Hogwarts Legacy is still launching in February on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (in fact, we've gone gold on those platforms!)! We need a bit more time on the PS4 and Xbox One, however we also finally have a date for all of our Switch players!
Hogwarts Legacy was released for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S last month, and the game has been an amazing success for Warner Bros. so far - as a matter of fact, the game managed to sell over 12 million copies in its first two weeks on sale.
