Warning: Contains spoilers for Stranger Things season 4, volume 2.
In the Stranger Thingsseason 4 finale, the deadly fate of Sadie Sink’s Max Mayfield reinforces a truly bizarre trend in the young actor’s roles following her appearance in Fear Street: 1978. Although Sadie Sink’s Max was originally introduced to the cast of Stranger Things in season 2, it was season 4 of the series that let the young star truly shine. Sink’s performance as Max was central to the season, with her devastating reunion with her dead brother Billy being one of the most wrenching scenes that the series has produced so far.
However, this was not the first time that Sink gained acclaim for playing a rebellious, troubled, but ultimately well-meaning and heroic Netflix horror heroine. Sink also starred in the 2021 movie Fear Street: 1978, where she played a surprisingly similar role to the part of Max. Not only did her Fear Street: 1978 character, Ziggy Berman, have the same attitude as Max, but she also shared a bizarrely specific fate.
