Stranger Things star Sadie Sink details the show's casting process, saying she begged for her role as Max. Sink rose to fame thanks to her breakout part in Netflix's hit series, and has gone on to also play Ziggy Berman in the horror film trilogy Fear Street. She is currently set to star in the psychological drama film The Whale, which comes out later this year.
Joining Stranger Things in season 2, Sink's Max was the new girl from California, who goes to Eleven, Will, Lucas, Dustin, and Mike's school. She quickly befriends the kids, getting introduced to all the mysteries of the Upside Down and all the other supernatural happenings in Hawkins they uncover. Although Sink’s Max was originally introduced in season 2, it wasn't until season 4 that the star truly got to shine. Her performance as Max was central to the season, especially with episode 4, which saw her facing Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower), while Lucas, Dustin, and Steve (Joe Keery) aid her in escaping the creature through the power of Kate Bush's «Running Up That Hill.»
