Captain Angel (Jesse James Keitel) hijacking the USS Enterprise in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds episode 7 sets up the end of Spock's (Ethan Peck) relationship with T'Pring (Gia Sandhu) 8 years early. InStrange New Worlds episode 7, «The Serene Squall,» Captain Angel poses as former Starfleet Counselor Dr. Aspen and steals the Starship Enterprise. But it was Spock Captain Angel really wanted; the villainous space pirate intended to exchange Spock for their husband, who was being held in the Ankeshtan K'Til Vulcan Criminal Rehabilitation Center overseen by T'Pring. Captain Angel's husband turned out to be Spock's Vulcan half-brother Sybok!
Star Trek: The Original Series' canon records that Spock (Leonard Nimoy) and T'Pring (Arlene Martel) formally end their Vulcan matrimonial bond in the classic episode, «Amok Time.» Spock, who underwent pon farr, was manipulated by T'Pring to return to Vulcan so that she could break their betrothal with thekal-if-fee ritual. But instead of making Spock fight her new lover, Stonn (Lawrence Montaigne), T'Pring tricked Captain James T. Kirk (William Shatner) into fighting Spock. In the end, T'Pring got what she wanted and her engagement to Spock was forever broken. Yet, in spite of this tragic ending, Strange New Worlds has been exploring the younger Spock and T'Pring during happier and more hopeful times as the two Vulcans attempt to have a long-distance relationship nearly a decade before «Amok Time» and their relationship's demise.
