The video game universe has grown so much exponentially in the last few years that iconic titles have already crossed over to mainstream luxury brands. Now, Stella McCartney has also released a new collection that features Space Invaders, one of the world's most well-known arcade video games.
Though there are still some physical arcade centers today, they likely do not feel the same to those who grew up with Taito's Space Invaders still available to play. Especially since the COVID-19 pandemic has changed the situation when it comes to entertainment venues, it is not surprising for big companies like SEGA to take down its arcade business. However, for many gamers often hit with nostalgia and good feelings about the past, seeing their favorite arcade titles in modern fashion collections is likely very welcome.
Space Invaders AR Mobile Game in Development
According to the official Stella McCartney Japanese site, the Space Invaders knitwear lineup consists of only four items. The set includes a knit dress, cropped sweater, an asymmetrical-length sweater, and a fuzzy skirt. All of these pieces, except the kit dress, come in a pale pink colorway that highlights the colorful versions of the iconic Space Invaders aliens. The pieces are actually part of the Stella McCartney Spring 2022 collection, which puts focus on the Y2K generation and the blend of nostalgia with the future.
Though these items look pretty cozy, they can set gamers back financially with just how much they cost. The most expensive item in the set is the knit dress which costs 205,700
