It's no secret that 's planets can often feel like barren wastelands, which is why explorers should check out this mod to spice up the landscape. When roaming around a newly-discovered planet, there's a decent chance that players will stumble upon a point of interest, which is usually a structure or location that stands out from the rest of the terrain and possibly contains some kind of unique encounter. There's not a great deal of variety though, meaning users will quickly come to see everything the galaxy has to offer despite its sprawling size.
Over on Nexus Mods, creator Battenburga wants to spice up 's planets with their excellent «Batten's Shipwrecks» mod, an add-on that incorporates 20 crashed ships as points of interest on various planets. These fields of debris are gigantic and while they can't be spotted from orbit, players can explore around them, occasionally encountering enemy patrols and even boss chests filled with loot. There's only a 0.5% chance of encountering one of the destroyed vessels, making the actual discovery that much more special when it's eventually unearthed during an arduous trek across a desert.

While there are undoubtedly plenty of intriguing points of interest in, many players believe the RPG relies too heavily on radiant discoveries that have little in the way of curated content. Some stand-out examples of excellent POIs include locations like De Falco's Mansion, The Colander orbiting Schrodinger III, and the Dauntless Crash Site on Cassiopeia I. Each of these presents a micro-story while also providing players with a break from the standard discoveries that can be found ad nauseam across the solar system.
