In celebration of cosy farming sim Stardew Valley's eighth anniversary, sole creator Eric «ConcernedApe» Barone has revealed roughly when we can get our dirt-smeared hands on the game's eagerly anticipated 1.6 update, which is shaping up to be a real doozy.
Barone revealed the PC release date for the update is 19th March, and to consoles like our beloved PS4, «as soon as possible.» Further, with a worldwide concert tour underway, a cookbook coming, and the news that the monstrous farming phenomenon has moved more than 30 million copies since launch, Barone let us all know how filthy rich he is in the most socially acceptable way possible: by thanking the fans.
Began in 2012 and released in 2016, Stardew Vallew was a labour of love that Barone undertook alone, reportedly working ten hours a day, seven days a week, for four-and-a-half years, and supported in some form or another ever since. As the sole designer, programmer, animator, artist, composer, and writer, he's way more talented than any one person has a right to be and must just be insufferable at parties. We wish him all the best and eagerly await news of Haunted Chocolatier, which was temporarily put on ice so Barone could return to Stardew Valley.
