Star Wars: The Acolyte was announced at Disney Investor Day in 2020, a sprawling event that also included reveals forObi-Wan Kenobi, Andor, Rogue Squadron, and more. The Acolyte stood out, though, due to its unique place in the Star Wars timeline and, in particular, its premise. Right now, most Star Wars projects seem to be set in between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, or sometime after Return of the Jedi.
