Released two months ago, Star Wars Outlaws has a new creative director, with Drew Rechner replacing Julian Gerighty in the top job. It's admittedly a pretty unusual move from Ubisoft and details are fairly light; following a soft commercial reception, it appears Rechner will oversee the game's upcoming story DLC packs, the first of which, Wild Card, is out 21st November.
The announcement was unceremoniously shared on X, with a dev update introducing Rechner, who «has recently taken the helm of Star Wars Outlaws as creative director.» The new Imperial commander said the studio has been gathering data since launch and will focus on implementing feedback and continuing to grind down those lingering rough edges.
Gerighty isn't even mentioned, presumably having been frozen in carbonite or disappeared in Jabba's Palace. TheGamer dug deeper but found no outward reason for the replacement; Gerighty hasn't said anything on social media or LinkedIn, as is traditional in the video game industry. As the outlet suggests, it could be that the director has simply been moved to a new project, having previously led development on The Division 2 and The Crew.
