Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is shaping up to be a promising sequel, and it’s being built specifically with new-gen consoles like the PS5 in mind. As such, the DualSense is poised to be a big part of the experience, and director Stig Asmussen – of God of War 3 fame, of course – has really talked up the support as part of a PS Blog interview.
“With the PS5, we’re really digging the haptics and what the controller is bringing, and it’s been a lot of fun to see how that works with push and pull [Force powers],” he revealed. “And a [DualSense] controller, it feels really good, and we’re taking advantage of that. You’re going to feel it on the triggers when you’re doing push and pull. If you really [push] on the triggers, it’s going to give a different response. Compared to if you’re lightly feathering them, and the game is going to react to that. It’s the nuance within the vibrations on the controller that is pretty outstanding. Our audio team and our combat team is really dialled into how the things that are happening in the world, the effects, and everything that are like translating to how it feels in your hands.”
It’s pretty easy to imagine how the hum of the lightsaber will feel in your hands, but obviously the PS5 is so much more than just a pad. Elsewhere, as part of the PS Blog’s preview, it’s mentioned that you’ll be able to explore the world with the help of a new flying mount named Belter, and this will enable you to really appreciate the scale and scope of the environments, which are all rendered in realtime, of course.
We’re pretty excited by what we’re reading, and reckon this is shaping up to be a good’un – especially as it’s building on such sturdy foundations. But where does this rank on your most wanted list?
