A modern day remaster of Star Wars: Dark Forces is in development at Nightdive Studios.
The developer, which specialises in remastering older games and making them look and run better on modern hardware, will support up to 4K resolution and 120 frames per second, depending on the platform it’s running on.
It will also feature “advanced 3D rendering, modern gamepad support, trophies and achievements, and more,” according to Nightdive.
The port will be titled Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster and will be released on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, PS4, Xbox One and PC.
A release date has yet to be announced, with Nightdive saying an announcement will be made later in the year.
Star Wars: Dark Forces was originally released on PC in 1995, and is generally believed to be one of the better Star Wars games from that era.
The game has players taking control of Kyle Katarn, a mercenary employed by the Rebel Alliance, who takes on a series of missions to help them in their fight against the Empire.

At the time the game was praised for its action, as well as the introduction of a number of gameplay elements that were uncommon in FPS games at the time, including the ability to duck, jump, swim and look around.
Along with the Dark Forces Remaster, Nightdive also announced that it’s developing a remaster of Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion, having already remastered the previous two Turok games.
Other recent Nightdive remasters have included Forsaken Remastered, Doom 64, Quake, Quake II, Shadow Man Remastered, PowerSlave Exhumed and System Shock: Enhanced Edition.
