Star Trek: Strange New Worldsseason 2's just-revealed plot details tease a look at new sides of both Kirk and Spock. Strange New Worlds is the eleventh Star Trek series, a spinoff of Star Trek: Discovery, and it launched on Paramount+ in 2022. Starring Anson Mount as Captain Christopher Pike and Ethan Peck as Spock, Strange New Worlds follows the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise in the years leading up to the start of Star Trek: The Original Series. The first season ended at the beginning of July, and season 2 is currently in production, expected in 2023.
A noted highlight of TOS was the friendship between Captain Kirk and his first officer Spock. Though they have yet to meet in Strange New Worlds, seeing their first interaction is a highly anticipated event for fans of the franchise. With Paul Wesley cast as Kirk and set to appear in season 2, the first meeting of his character with Peck's Spock is sure to be a highlight in the coming episodes.

At a San Diego Comic-Con 2022 panel attended by Screen Rant, details about Kirk and Spock's characters in Strange New Worlds season 2 were teased. They will be in different places than they were when audiences first met them all the way back in 1966 on TOS. Spock will apparently be wrestling with his emotions more, trying to find a balance between his human and Vulcan sides. Meanwhile, in season 2, Kirk will be a lieutenant on the U.S.S. Farragut. He has not quite developed into the classic Kirk yet and will have more levity than William Shatner's original portrayal.
