As the long-running franchise continues to grow, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 2 will feature a Lower Decks crossover episode. Developed by Akiva Goldsman, Alex Kurtzman and Jenny Lumet, the former series marks the latest live-action entry into Kurtzman's expanded Star Trek Universe and is a spinoff continuation of Star Trek: Discovery, continuing the story of Anson Mount's Captain Christopher Pike. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is set a decade before the events of the original series and chronicles Pike's years as the USS Enterprise's captain before James T. Kirk would take the helm.
Alongside Mount, the cast for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds includes Ethan Peck as Spock, Rebecca Romijn as Number ONe, Jess Bush, Christina Chong, Celia Rose Gooding, Melissa Navia, Babs Olusanmokun and Bruce Horak. Premiering on Paramount+ this past May, the live-action series has scored widespread critical acclaim for its return to the episodic formula of the original Star Trek show, the visual effects and the performances from its cast. Even beffore proving to be one of the streamer's most popular shows, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds earned a season 2 renewal order from Paramount+ ahead of its premiere and now audiences are getting an exciting reveal of what's to come from the show's future.
