Developer 1047 Games plans to release Splitgate Beta Season 1 next week, with a host of new features and modes in tow — a custom map creator included. The popular free-to-play portal shooter initially hit PC via Steam nearly three years ago in March 2019, offering players a unique, Halo-inspired multiplayer experience. 1047 Games brought Splitgate to consoles last summer, introducing a new audience to the high-octane shooter. Said audience immediately took a liking to the work-in-progress product, too, evidenced by its continued rise in popularity over the past several months.
Within a matter of months, 1047 Games managed to secure a third round of funding totaling $100 million, allowing the independent studio to scale its plans significantly. Such an investment constituted a big boon for both the studio and the "portal-fueled arena shooter," which is currently enjoying great success with Beta Season 0. Unsurprisingly, PlayStation players were especially drawn to Splitgate in the days and weeks following Halo Infinite's release, and, soon enough, users across all platforms will have another reason to bounce back into the online adventure.
