Naughty Dog's The Last of Us is considered one of the great landmarks in the struggle to have game stories comparable to the cinema. The zombie apocalypse title combines the struggle for survival with a nuanced relationship drama between the two protagonists that proved to be incredibly memorable. Now, a cameo in a recent PlayStation Productions animation may be hinting at a remake of The Last of Us coming down the pipeline.
The firstLast of Us game came out back in 2013 and chronicled the developing bond between two survivors traveling across post-apocalyptic America, the hard-bitten cynic Joel and the young and idealistic Ellie. The game is legendary for how well it manages to get gamers in the same headspace as Joel and develop the same attachment to Ellie. While the second game may be controversial, the first is generally considered to be a beloved classic.

A recent tweet from the verified PlayStation Twitter account shared a short animation from PlayStation Productions that showcases some of the company's biggest video game characters. Although the clip is only about 20 seconds long, it features icons like Nathan Drake, Kratos and Atreus, and Sackboy alongside newcomers like Jin Sakai and Aloy. Joel and Ellie are both clearly visible as well, traced in blue holographic light the same as their fellows. However, it is noticeable that they appear in their The Last of Us 1 incarnations just as Naughty Dog co-president Neil Druckmann seemingly teased a remake.
