A brand-new Splatoon 3gameplay trailer was released, revealing a grittier aesthetic, new co-op mode, and release window. Nintendo has been teasing Splatoon 3 for quite some time but has remained incredibly cryptic about what the new game will add to the beloved shooter franchise. While they're still holding back some key information, the new trailer gives a lot more insight into what players will be doing in the new entry and possibly when they can learn more.
Last year, the Splatoon 3 reveal trailer showcased what appeared to be a post-apocalyptic setting. Despite being a game about covering things in colorful ink, there's a much less lively look to this threequel. The atmosphere looks and feels like a wasteland, characters look more like scrappy soldiers, and more. It certainly has a different, more striking tone compared to the first two games which could speak to the things players will get up to in the game.
The new Splatoon 3 trailer from Nintendo confirmed the game will release sometime in summer 2022, but no specific date was given. The trailer focuses on the new co-op mode, Salmon Run Next Wave, which sees players dropping onto the map via a helicopter and fighting aquatic creatures. Players will work together to capture eggs, cover the map in their ink, and much more. The new Splatoon 3 trailer also teases a larger Salmonoid, but it's unclear how it will impact the game.
