Spirit Halloween, the self-proclaimed largest retailer dedicated to the scary October holiday, is reportedly gearing up to turn its concept into a movie. According to Variety, production companies Strike Back Studios, Hideout Pictures, and Particular Crowd have partnered with Back To the Future star Christopher Lloyd to make this family-friendly feature a reality because, hey, why not?
The film's synopsis is as follows: «When a new Spirit Halloween store appears in a deserted strip mall, three middle-school friends who think they've outgrown trick-or-treating make a dare to spend the night locked inside the store Halloween night. But they soon find out that the store is haunted by an angry evil spirit who has possessed the creepy animatronic characters. The kids embark on a thrilling and spooky adventure in order to survive the night and avoid becoming possessed themselves.»
Lloyd co-stars include Rachael Leigh Cook (Robot Chicken), Donavan Colan (Zoe), Dylan Frankel (Raven's Home), Jaiden Smith (Blue Bloods), Marissa Reyes (Raven's Home), and Marla Gibbs (El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie). David Poag makes his directorial debut on a script written by Billie Bates.
The film, tentatively titled Spirit Halloween, has recently wrapped filming and is targeted for an October 2022 release.
