The iconic store Spirit Halloween will receive its own feature film with Back to the Future star Christopher Lloyd leading the cast. The seasonal costume store, which operates about 1,425 locations across North America, is a go-to spot for families looking to get their Halloween costumes. The store's layout and merchandise are so iconic that they were even recreated in Animal Crossing by fans. Now it appears that the store will be taking the next big leap that video games, comic books, and toys have made: making a feature-length movie.
According to Variety, Spirit Halloween is teaming up with Strike Back Studios, Hideout Pictures, and Particular Crowd for a feature-length movie based on the store titled Spirit Halloween. Billed as a family film, it follows a group of middle school kids who decide to stay the night in a Spirit Store on Halloween, but soon find that it is haunted by an angry spirit that has taken possession of its creepy animatronic characters. The kids must survive the night and avoid being possessed themselves. Spirit Halloween stars Lloyd and Rachael Leigh Cook (She's All That), alongside Donavan Colan, Dylan Frankel, Jaiden Smith, and Marissa Reyes. President of Strike Back Studios Noor Ahmed said regarding the project:
«One of the reasons I immediately connected with the script is it is very much inspired by some of my favorite kid adventure films growing up from The Goonies, Gremlins, Monster Squad and so many great films made by Amblin Entertainment.”
