Renowned comedian Mike Epps is the latest to join the cast of the Madame Web movie. As the Sony Spider-Man Universe (SSU) continues to expand its brand, it's tapping some of the more obscure comic heroes and villains for solo movies. Kraven the Hunter andEl Muerto are on track for release in the coming years, and a Madame Web movie is also in development, which will introduce SSU's first female superhero. Directed by S. J. Clarkson with writing from Kerem Sanga and Morbius duo Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, Madame Web stars Fifty Shades of Grey actress Dakota Johnson in the lead role. Plot details are currently slim, although reports suggest that the movie will focus on the Julia Carpenter version of the superheroine, who is the protege of the original Madame Web, Cassandra Webb.
Now, Deadline reports that Madame Web has added another name to its stellar ensemble with Next Friday and Friday After Next star, Mike Epps. The actor-comedian joins the previously announced Tahar Rahim, Emma Roberts, Celeste O'Connor, Isabela Merced, and Sydney Sweeney in Madame Web, and as with all the other actors, details of his role too are being kept under wraps. Epps hasn't issued a statement on his casting so far.

Epps is an acclaimed stand-up comedian whose specials are beloved by all. More recently, he has been entertaining fans with his iconic comic timing in the Netflix sitcom The Upshaws, and the performer is also set to star in the Natalie Portman Apple TV+ miniseries, Lady in the Lake.
