With so many balls in the air for Marvel these days on the Sony and MCU side of things, delays and rescheduling are basically a fact of life. This now includes an impending newcomer to Sony's Marvel universe, Madame Web, whose upcoming film just took a bit of a breather.
Madame Web, starring Dakota Johnson, has been delayed from its original July 7th, 2023, release date to October 6th of the same year. It's not much of a setback compared to others in Marvel and Sony's history, but it's also not the only production facing such a change at the moment. Aside from Madame Web, another untitled Sony/Marvel film has seen a more substantial shift in release dates, moving from October 6th, 2023 all the way to June 7th, 2024.

Some speculate that the untitled film may be the next Spider-Man movie (which may or may not star Tom Holland again), though it's difficult to tell so early. Meanwhile, Madame Web's new slot has a history of success for Sony's Marvel offerings, including widely successful openings for 2018's Venom and its 2021 sequel Venom: Let There Be Carnage. Both films released in October of their respective years, so perhaps Sony is adopting an «if it ain't broke, don't fix it» approach.
