New set photos from Madame Web offer the first look at Emma Roberts' pregnant mystery character. As efforts to build out the Sony Spider-Man Universe (SSU) continue, many obscure characters from the comics are getting their chance at an overdue live-action action treatment. After the 2015 Sony/Disney partnership for theSpider-Man: Homecoming films proved to be a blockbuster success, the studio developed its own Marvel cinematic universe with projects like Venom, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, and Morbius. And now, more Spider-Man spinoff films are in development, including Kraven the Hunter, Madame Web, and El Muerto.
Madame Web is arguably the most hotly anticipated film on the SSU slate. Directed by The Defenders and Jessica Jones helmer S. J. Clarkson, with writing from the Morbius duo Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama, Madame Web is scheduled for release in October 2023. Dakota Johnson leads the ensemble that comprises Hollywood A-listers including Roberts, Sydney Sweeney, Celeste O'Connor, Isabela Merced, Tahar Rahim, Mike Epps, and Adam Scott. Since much of the movie's story is being kept under wraps, details on the characters and the plot aren't exactly abundant, although set leaks have given fans some idea of Madame Web's 2000s setting, as well as some of the prominent heroes that might show up in the movie.

Now, Marvel Updates has a shared new image from the filming location of Madame Web, offering a sneak-peek at Roberts' role. Since the image is a zoomed-out shot, not much can be discerned, but it's evident that Roberts' character will be pregnant in the movie.
