The Uncharted movie starring Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg gets hit with an unexpected delay of over one month for its Netflix release date. Based on Naughty Dog's video game series of the same name, the new action-adventure adaptation finds the seasoned treasure hunter Victor Sullivan (Wahlberg) recruiting the young thief Nathan Drake (Holland) to find the fabled fortune that once belonged to Ferdinand Magellan. During their quest to recover the gold in Uncharted, Drake and Sully must race against the ruthless and powerful Santiago Moncada (Antonio Banderas).
After years of development hell and delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Uncharted finally released in theaters in February of this year. Despite receiving mostly negative reviews from critics, the movie was a hit with audiences and at the box office, grossing just over $400 million worldwide. This made Uncharted one of the highest-grossing video game movie adaptations of all time. Anticipation was high amongst audiences (particularly fans of the original game) for Uncharted's theatrical release, which has carried over into its home release. Earlier this month, it was seemingly revealed that Uncharted's Netflix release date would be July 15. However, now it appears audiences will have to wait a little longer to watch the action-adventure romp on the streaming service.
