As theories swirl regarding her casting, a Madame Web set video has seemingly revealed Dakota Johnson's new Sony's Spider-Man Universe character. Johnson, well-known for her work in the poorly receivedFifty Shades trilogy and a number of independent projects, including Bad Times at the El Royale, is leading the cast of the upcoming SSU film as the titular clairvoyant with the ability to see into the spider world. alongside Johnson, the ensemble cast for Madame Web includes Euphoria's Sydney Sweeney, Celeste O'Connor, Isabela Merced, Tahar Rahim, Emma Roberts, Mike Epps and Adam Scott, all of whom are set in undisclosed roles.
Development on Madame Web was first announced in late 2019 when Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, the duo behind Sony's Morbius, were tapped to pen the script for the movie. S.J. Clarkson, who previously tried her hand in the Marvel sphere with episodes of Jessica Jones and The Defenders, was set to direct a female-centric Marvel film for Sony in mid-202, later confirmed to be Madame Web. After nearly a year of casting, Johnson was brought on to lead Madame Web earlier this year with filming kicking off earlier this month and now audiences are getting an exciting insight from the set of the film.
