Warning! SPOILERS for Thor: Love & Thunder.
The symbiotes are an important species in the Marvel universe, but their existence in the MCU is a complicated matter. In Marvel comics, Venom developed a love-hate relationship with Spider-Man after being revealed to be an alien parasite taking the form of his black suit. Venom also gave birth to iconic symbiotes such as Riot and Carnage, the latter of which gave birth to the symbiote anti-hero Toxin and two other offspring. More recently, it was revealed that all symbiotes come from All-Black, the Necrosword that Gorr the God Butcher stole from Knull, the god of the symbiotes.

Thor: Love and Thunder introduced Gorr and the Necrosword, while ignoring Knull and the original All-Black altogether, essentially wiping symbiotes from the franchise. With Tom Hardy’s Venom introducing a new symbiote to the MCU through the multiverse in Spider-Man: No Way Home's post-credits scene, it’s safe to say that the symbiotes never existed in the MCU until now. However, things are not so simple.
