Good Luck to You, Leo Grande is a delightful film that skillfully weaves its message about sexuality and sex work into the structure of a feel-good romcom. Sophie Hyde, who previously directed Holliday Grainger and Alia Shawkat in 2019's Animals, takes on the tale alongside writer Katy Brand. In it, screen legend Emma Thompson stars as Nancy Stokes, a woman who experiences a sexual reawakening and decides to discover what she's missed out on thus far.
In order to do just that, Nancy hires Leo (Daryl McCormack, Peaky Blinders), a sex worker who feels so shame about his profession and takes great care in his work. The two of them learn about and from each other as Nancy attempts to overcome her own hang-ups about intimacy nd her body.

Screen Rant spoke to Hyde about the joys of Good Luck to You, Leo Grande's sex positivity, the magic of working with Emma Thompson & Daryl McCormack, and the importance of upending sex work stereotypes.
Screen Rant: What a delightful movie. I cannot wait for everybody to see this. I'm curious how the press tour aspect has been, because I do feel like it's a continuation of the messaging of the movie. It's like, «Tet's talk about sex. Sex positive, baby!»
Sophie Hyde: It's a really weirdly enjoyable press tour. I get to have audiences come up to me afterwards and tell me the intimate details, or just moments about their lives. And that's fun.
It's not a hard film to talk about, because it's purely joyful, and all the ideas in it I care deeply about. I could talk about sex forever — and bodies!
I love that. What have you learned about yourself, or what do you hope audiences learn as a result of this movie?
Sophie
